If you only have 60 seconds left to live ...
/I heard a woman, Lauren Nicole Janskowski, sharing a question that changed the course of her life. This is what she said.
“The question was, ‘If you just found out that you only have 60 seconds left to live, what would you do? Who would you call? Would you have any regrets in your life?’
We spend so much time stressing about the future or the past, everything but the 60 seconds in front of us. We take people for granted, we don’t tell them how we feel when we feel it. When in reality, this 60 seconds in front of you is a gift and it’s the only thing that matters.
So I’m going to ask you ….. If you just found out right now that you only have 60 seconds left to live, would you have regrets? Would you wish you did things differently? Cuz I bet you would. Go tell that person how you feel, go chase that dream that you’ve wanted for years, go do that thing you were afraid to do but you know you need to.
The 60 seconds in front of you are a blessing and the rest is not promised.”
I share this because especially when we are in a time of crisis and overwhelm, it is easy to get caught up in losing sight of what really matters. Spending time in the past is like trying to go through a door that has been closed, leaving you standing outside with regrets, while the future is an anxiety filled hot air balloon ride drifting toward the unknown with no destination in sight. The past is done and future will be different than we can imagine in the moment. The only thing that is real at the moment is the next 60 seconds.
If you just found out that you only have 60 seconds left to live, what would you do? Would the past matter at all?
